Working late again.
During the day most of our time is spent in meetings, around the coffee machine, on the phone, answering emails, catching up with yesterday, and the only time we can find alone to do work that requires some concentration is when the rest of the household is asleep. Your body needs energy to keep going. And your body will need sleep when you are done. You could reach for the caffeine, but then sleep can be troublesome and the mornings irritable. To be effective late you need to believe what you're doing is giving you an edge on the competition. People with higher IQs are more apt to be nocturnal night-owls. Those with lower IQs tend to restrict their activities primarily to daytime. Or perhaps it is because late at night alone our concentration is more acute. Need an edge!
